How to handle legacy passwords

Sage X3 no longer uses passwords that were defined in V6 for normal operations. Authentication in V7 is managed through the web server with the connection being secured by certificates.

However, there remain some legacy functions that require a V6 password. If you are using these functions, you need to continue to handle a V6 password for at least some dedicated users . These functions are the following:

• The table maintenance, when the parameter ASIGMNT is set to Yes (this applies to certain legislations).
• The SOAP web services connection with the V6 web server pool.
• The ADC terminal connections.

For this reason, legacy password functions have not been completely disabled in V7. To handle these passwords, two functions are available:

• A function that erases the version 6 password for a given user.
• A function that sets the version 6 password for the current user.
