How to install eclipse and use it to debug version 7 code

This ‘How-to’ provides information on how to install the open source software Eclipse Indigo and use it to debug the Version 7 scripts.

Eclipse Indigo is available from the Sage Downloads web site. The following development process demonstrates how to install Eclipse Indigo and start debugging the Version 7 code.

  1. Install Oracle® Java™ SE Runtime Environment (JRE). Make sure you install the 32-bit (x86) version if you are using Eclipse 32-bit, and the 64-bit version (x64) if you are using Eclipse 64-bit.

Note: Ensure this is a 32-bit installation. It is recommended that a reboot is performed following the installation.

  2. Download Eclipse Indigo, including the Sage X3 plug-in. This is available from the Sage X3 Studio for Eclipse Downloads web site: http://pluginx3.sage.fr/safex3/studio/downloads/downloads.html.

  3. If you used the download provided from step 2, to use Eclipse with Version 7, you must upgrade to Eclipse Indigo SR2 as per the following steps:

  4.  Create a new Sage X3 project in Eclipse.

  5.  Set up your Version 7 Sage X3 Client to use Eclipse as the default script editor. To do this:
