Business objects servers

The Business Objects server is the logical BO server to create in the administration platform in order to define the connection to the distant BO application server of the Sage X3 solution.

The administrator's account password of the distant BO application server is required to enable authorized X3 users to perform creation and modification of BO Universes as well as others administrator's BO tasks by using X3 functions.

The elements that must be entered are the following:

Name

Name of the Business Objects server as it appears when this entry is referenced in another page.

Host

This field identifies the address of the server where Business Objects platform has been installed. The address can be a server name that is known on the network or an IP address.

Tomcat Port

This field identifies the port number of the Tomcat Web server where java servlets for the Business Objects application are installed. The default value is 8080.

Web services Port

This field specifies the address for web services that are used by the Business Objects platform. The default value is 6405.

Administrator's password

Information to enter in both password fields should be identical. This corresponds to the required password of the administrator's account as it has been set up on the distant Business Objects application server.

he administrator account is used only for universe generation and mapping operations.

Direct connection for LDAP

This checkbox is relevant for users using LDAP authentication. In this case, the same user LDAP credentials will be used for the BO connection. Therefore, the settings defined in the BO profile (linked to the users or to the role) are ignored.

Test Administrator's account

Once the Business Objects server is created, you may verify its validity by testing the connection. Activate the line Actions menu of the BO server to be tested, and click the Test Administrator's account menu item. If the connection is successful, an Administrator's account is valid. message appears on a blue bar. Otherwise, an error message appears on a red bar.
