Mobile client - Special features and limitations

From a user interface point of view, the navigation and the behavior of the mobile client are slightly different for following the reasons:

  • The size constraints of mobile devices are not the same.
  • The devices available on a mobile phone and the user interaction are not the same.
  • The connection constraints of mobile devices require enabling a disconnected mode that does not exist on the desktop web pages.
  • UI principles have been adapted to mobile devices, even if such an interface can be used on a desktop. This creates some differences. For example, clicking an icon is done by tapping with your finger on a mobile device; the scroll or swipe gesture is also done with the fingers on a device: if used on a desktop with a mouse, you need to left-click and hold while scrolling.
  • No Classic mode is available on mobiles.

Special features

Offline capable mobile apps

If a mobile application is not flagged to be "online only", it supports the local management of drafts.
Also, it is possible to navigate to previously loaded pages without network connection since the client will cache fetched data automatically.
