Prerequisites
- Install or upgrade to Sage X3 version 7 or later.
- To process Sage Sales Tax transactions in batch mode you must be on at least V7 patch 16, U8 patch 7, or U9 patch 5 with Java Bridge enabled. Processing Sage Sales Tax transactions in batch mode is not possible prior to these versions. The Java Bridge server is no longer required for batch processing of Sage Sales Tax transactions on versions 11 and higher.
- If the Java Bridge is not enabled for these versions then Node.js is used for communication and batch processing of Sage Sales Tax transactions is not supported unless you are on version 11 or higher.
-
If using Java Bridge to communicate:
Definition of a demilitarized zone (DMZ)In computer networks, a demilitarized zone (DMZ) is a computer host or small network inserted as a neutral zone between a company’s private network and the outside public network. It prevents outside users from getting direct access to a server that has company data.
- Determine where the JAVA server is to reside. Ideally, this is on a separate server that resides within a DMZ; firewalled from your internal network as well as your external internet device. Install the Java Server component, which is available as “Safe X3 BRIDGE JAVA” on the Sage X3 installation DVD.
- Use the latest version of Java.
It is highly recommended you request separate test and production accounts. Although this is not required, it gives you the flexibility to continue testing (if desired) after the credit card process has been moved to production.
