Audience

The logistic aspect of purchasing can be implemented by the buyer, an employee in a sister company, but also by the various partners outside of the company (forwarding agent, carrier, etc.) who ensure the transport of the ordered goods from one location to another to the receipt site.

What's new

From Update 9 onwards, you can use functions to manage containers, shipments and transports to manage the transport of purchase orders until the moment they are received.

This document presents all the enhancements introduced since U9 and explains the basic logistics management in Sage X3, using different use cases. These features do not replace a TMS (Transport Management System) or a WMS (Warehouse Management System) but they can fulfill the following key missions:

  • Group purchases in containers or shipments
  • Provide a clear view of the shipped goods and anticipate on any possible shortage by tailoring future orders
  • Receive shipments

This document explains the way to implement these new features with three use cases. They deal with the management of:

  • Purchase prereceipts without logistics
  • National transport
  • Imports
