In a certain number data from software written in adonix technology, titles associated to records can be translated. This corresponds to dedicated data types:

  • Either ATX type data are concerned. The texts are then stored in a dedicated dictionary table: ATEXTE. These texts are reserved for (standard and specific) developing purposes and are updated via specific functions.
  • Or it can be local menus, stored in the APLSTD table. There again, dedicated functions (at development or setup level) are used in the translation.
  • Or it can be data types with a code starting with AX. Translatable texts that are reserved to the applications are then stored in the ATEXTRA table.

ATEXTRA data can be entered in any record in which translatable titles are necessary. This entry can be done by any authorized user. It is therefore important to be able to simultaneously enter texts in other languages (the list of languages is not necessarily limited to languages in which the software user interface is available, unlike texts of the first two types).

A function that can be accessed by right click from any field of this type is used to reach online translations. It is described here.
