A Business Objects profile is the mirror image of a physical user entity that has been defined on the Business Objects server. BO profile reflects habilitations that have been granted to the corresponding user on Business Objects functions that are run on the distant Business Objects server. A Business Objects profile is related to a Business Objects server in the V12 environment.
The following required information for a Business Objects profile setup constitutes the connection elements between V12 UI environment and Business Objects application.
Note that if the BO server has a "Direct connection for LDAP", these settings are ignored for users using LDAP authentication.
Name
Name of the Business Objects profile as it appears when this entry is referenced in another V12 page.
Security
Security Enterprise is the unique option and it is already turned on.
User
In this field, you must enter the user code as it has been setup on the Business Objects application. The current Business Objects profile will inherit the habilitations that are granted to the user code by the administrator of the Business Objects application server.
Password
Information to enter in both password fields should be identical. This corresponds to the required password of the user as it has been set up on the distant Business Objects application server.
BO Server
Defines the BO server where the BO profile you are creating applies. Because BO servers are related to several distant Business Objects application servers, make sure that the selected BO server points to the right Business Objects application server where the user and password that are set on this Business Objects profile can be authenticated.
Check the Business Objects profile settings
Once the Business Objects profile is created, you may verify its validity by testing the connection. Activate the line Actions menu of the BO profile to be tested, and click the ‘Test Connection’ menu item. If the connection is successful, a "Logon OK" message appears on a blue bar; followed by another blue bar with a "Logoff OK" message. Otherwise, an error message appears on a red bar.
