This function is used to perform for a given work center the mass modification of the number of work center resources used by the WO operations.

This function can be accessed from the entry into the mass modification menu of the production technical data, but also from the update of a work center, in order to immediately pass the modifications in the general number of work center resources, or on the occasion of the introduction of a specific capacity variation, on all or part of the operations using this work center.

Screen management

The function submits a selection screen, used to launch the search of the operations to be processed.

Selection criteria

Production site (field MFGFCY)

The production site associated with the user is proposed by default. It can be modified by another site authorized for the operator, depending on its authorizations.
Work center (field EXTWST)

The work center is attached to a work center group. It corresponds to a production resource on which a routing operation is carried out.

This is an entity for which it is requested to plan loads and track production times.

Each work center is associated with an attachment site.
Start date (field STRDAT)

This field identifies the 1st day of the period for which the distribution key is defined.
It is possible to define up to 53 periods.
Periods must be consecutive with no blank period.
The curve must be defined from the 01/01 to the 12/31.
End date (field ENDDAT)

This field identifies the last day of the period for which the distribution key is defined.
The periods must be consecutive and there should not be any empty period.
The curve should be defined from the 01/01 to 12/31.

No. of resources (field VARWSTNBR)

The number of work centers makes it possible to manage the number of resources for identical resources in order to carry out an operation.

For instance, a labor work center may comprise 3 people. This is indicated by entering 3 in the number of resources.

Entry screen

The different selection criteria are:

  • the site,
  • the work center,
  • a search horizon,
  • the status of WOs to filter,
  • the number of work center resources requested for the operations to search.

When direct access it required to the function, each single selection criterion must be entered. If the function is activated from the Work Center update, some criteria are already entered: the work center, possibly the horizon (if access is possible via right click from a work center capacity variation).

Once the filters are entered, activating the [OK] button submits a table gathering all the selected operations (OWx WIP).

It will then be possible for each operation to modify the number of principal and secondary work center resources requested by the operation. In case of modification, the operation is automatically checked.

The validation of this screen via the [Save] button causes the checked operations to be updated, and the orders concerned to be re-scheduled.

It is possible to check an operation without modifying the number of work center resources, simply to indicate that the corresponding WO should be rescheduled.

The [Abort] button is used to reinitialize the table of the operations to be processed from the selection criteria, by cancelling all the manual modifications performed prior to validation.

Entry (field MFGNUM)

This field displays the work order number (unique ID).
This number is automatically or manually generated upon each creation.
Click the Selection icon to open the list of work orders (which only includes 'Firm' or 'Closed' work orders) and select a work order.
Operation (field OPENUM)

This field displays the sequence number of this operation.

The operations in a routing used for manufacturing a product are assigned operation numbers. Each operation number corresponds to a task carried out on a given resource, with given times.
Start date (field OPESTR)

The subcontract operation start date is determined by default as follows:
End date - Lead time.
The end date is updated when it is modified. If the calculated end date is later than the receipt date of the released product, the latter is modified.

This field is managed depending on the setup of the entry transaction of the subcontract order.
End date (field OPEEND)

By default the subcontract service end date cannot be entered. It is automatically assigned with the receipt date of the released product.
This field is managed based on the setup of the entry transaction of the subcontract order.
No. of resources (field EXTWSTNBR)

The number of work centers makes it possible to manage the number of resources for identical resources in order to carry out an operation.

No. labor facilities (field EXTLABNBR)

This is the number of resources of the labor work center.
Setup time (field SETTIM)

The setting time is a fixed amount of time necessary to prepare the work center. It is part of the work center load.

It is expressed in the time unit specified:
Run time (field OPETIM)

The operation time is the time necessary to manufacture the product described in the routing.

The operating time unit can be:

  • expressed in hours or minutes (see the time unit),
  • assigned to 1, 100, 1000 or a lot of units of the operation based on the management unit,
  • proportional or fixed based on the type of operation time
    Example: Time unit = Hours Time type = proportional Management unit = Time for 100 Operation time = 2 Operation unit = Kg Finished product unit = A REL-OPE conversion coefficient = 0.5
    The operation time is equal to 2 hours for 100 Kg. If the Work Order is launched for 1000 units of finished product, the time necessary to produce this operation is 10 hours to obtain 500 Kg.
Operation UOM (field OPEUOM)

Work order operation quantities are expressed in the operation unit. Use this operation unit to express operating time in a different unit to that of the product being produced by the routing.

For example, a product managed by unit is subject to three different operations, none of which produce intermediate stock:

  • Mixing time (operation 1) is expressed for a lot with Kilogram as the unit;
  • Extrusion time (operation 2) is a rate in meters per hour;
  • Cutting time (operation 3) is expressed in hours per unit.

There is no need to create semi-finished products for each production phase.

The operation unit is associated with a conversion coefficient for the stock unit of the product being produced by the routing and the operation unit.
Quantity (field QTY)

It is the allocated quantity expressed in UOM unit.

Specific Buttons

Include

The [Include] button is used to check all the operations of the selection.

Exclude

The [Exclude] button is used to uncheck all the operations of the selection.

Error messages

In addition to the generic error messages, the following messages can appear during the entry :

"The end range is less than the start range"

Selection control error message by range.

"At least one work center resource is necessary"

At least one work center resource is needed to carry out the operation.

"Impossible to uncheck the box: the number of resources/Labor resources has been modified"

In order to be able to uncheck a line, the number of work center resources/Labor work center resources must have retrieved their initial values.
