Use this function to create and manage analytical dimensions.
The analytical dimensions are the "management centers" designed to aggregate the accounting information for analytical and budgetary purposes.
Their nature depends on your analytical objectives, which determines the basis for analytical dimension types.
Examples:
Service dimension type
This dimension type can be used to break down the company's activity by service and is composed of one dimension per service.
Sector dimension type
This dimension type can be used to analyze the turnover/revenue by geographic area and is composed of one dimension per region.
Vehicle dimension type
This dimension type can be used for tracking the costs for operating company vehicles and is composed of one dimension per vehicle, etc.
The dimensions are created for a given dimension type. There can be up to 9 dimension types independent of each other. Click Dimension type to browse through each dimension type plan.
The analytical sections are associated with the analytical accounts. The analytical dimensions make up a reference element in the analytical (allocation of accounting entries) and budgetary (entry) management. They are mainly used to carry out comparisons between the "actual" and the "budget."
Entering budget elements on an analytical dimension can be prohibited.
Refer to documentation Implementation
Presentation
You can create as many dimensions as needed on an analytical dimension type. This dimension type is specified in the header. Click Dimension to choose an analytical dimension type.

Fields
The following fields are present on this tab :
Identification
Enter the short description. By default the short title, the long title or the column header of a data are recorded (on creation/update) in the connection language of the user.
A user who logs on with this language will view the short description, long description or column header in their connection language if a translation exists. Otherwise, these descriptions will be available in the folder language.
Accessibility
Select this check box so that the data can be used in other records (documents, parameters, etc.) or during a batch process. If not selected, the data is considered to be inactive and it cannot be used in other records. |
This access code is used to prohibit access to the dimension for certain users. |
When this field is entered, the dimension can only be used for the designated entity. Sites are always financial sites and groups always include one or several financial sites. |
These dates define the period during which the dimension can be used. |
Enter a restriction code at this level or set one up at the dimension-dimension, account-account, or account-dimension Restriction code level. To ensure the coherence of postings, you can forbid the entry of associated accounts with specific dimensions, accounts with other accounts, or dimensions with other dimensions. The principle is to define "forbidding code" pairs that are not compatible when posting. When an account and a dimension have incompatible codes, they cannot be used together for posting the same entry line. |
Management
If you select the Carry forward check box, the balance for the current dimension is carried forward for the accounts for entries from this dimension (if these have RAN). This allows all the entries from a dimension to be carried forward from one period to another.
When this field is checked, a budget can be build in this dimension. Using some dimensions can thus be reserved to the analytical accounting. Associated with the analytical accounts, the dimensions are the reference element in the analytical management (posting of accounting documents) and budgetary management (entry). They are mainly used to carry out comparisons between the "actual" and the "budget". |
This field indicates if the dimension can receive entries. |
Grid Other dimensions
It is possible to initialize the value of a dimension type with respect to another. By specifying dimension types and associated dimensions, the current dimension can be used to initialize the dimension types concerned. |
Grid Nonfinancial units
This grid is used to define all the operation units and a value (permanent) assigned to the dimension for this unit. |

Grid Pyramids
Enter a dimension pyramid. Principally used for reports and inquiries, dimension pyramids are used to characterize the summary (roll-up) level and order of the information to be retrieved. Their update is retroactive to the construction of the pyramids and need to be refreshed after creation and modification. According to the analysis and roll-up objectives, you can attach each dimension to several pyramids to a single dimension type. On the other hand, a dimension can only be attached once to a pyramid (to a single dimension group). It can also be done within the specifications of the groups of dimensions.
This field displays the Group for the analytical pyramid containing the analytical dimension. |
This field displays the Group definition level. This level must be less than 99, level 99 being reserved by convention to the dimensions. If the group is included in another group of the pyramid, the level must be greater than that of the group in which it is included. If the group contains sub-groups, the level must be less than that of the sub-groups. |
Printing order of the groups of a same level. |
This field is not required. When a screen is entered, the dimension is automatically attached to this group and can be excluded only by modifying the screen in the group itself. Use the following wildcards in the screen specifications:

By default, the following reports are associated with this function :
LISSEC : List of dimensions
This can be changed using a different setup.
Click this function to perform a dimension inquiry. A new screen opens to the current dimension type.
Click this function to view budget management. A new screen opens to the budget transaction whose first line corresponds to the current dimension.
Use this function to copy the dimension type associated with the current dimension.
Copying can be useful during a preparatory phase or, for example, for two separate companies to use the same dimension type, except for a few dimensions. In the latter case, it is more convenient to copy a chart of accounts and to introduce a few subsequent modifications.
Copy can be performed:
This function is not available for operating budgets (analytical dimensions coming from entities or envelopes).
In addition to the generic error messages, the following messages can appear during the entry :
You cannot leave this field blank. You must enter a value.
This message can display if the validity end date entered is earlier than the validity start date.
The entered pyramid has already been entered on another line.
