Dimension Groups
This function is used to define the dimension pyramids for each dimension type.
It is possible to entirely define the pyramid structure from this function (including the link with the basic dimensions).
In the Analytical dimensions management function, set up the link between the pyramid and the basic allocation dimensions.
The pyramid can be built from the graphical representation function.

Pyramid structure
For each dimension type, as many dimension pyramids as required may be defined.
Use example:
Let us consider an analytical dimension type representing the geographic sectors of the company's agencies (Paris, Marseilles, Barcelona, Madrid etc.):

- Level 10: the most global level concerns the "'All sectors considered" activity.
- Level 20: the "World" group is comprised of the "Europe" and "Others" groups.
- Level 30: The "Europe" and "Others" groups are themselves made up of countries.
- "Virtual" Level 99: this level is comprised of elementary dimensions.
Each group is defined by the list of the sub-groups belonging to it, and/or possibly of the elementary dimensions that are directly attached to it.
If a given level of the pyramid is not comprehensive, the reports obtained for this level are only partial.
This type of analysis is used to detail certain branches of the analysis.
Example: if the "Tokyo" dimension is directly attached to the "Others" group, the reports of the country level will not take Tokyo's contribution into consideration.
When it is not mandatory to enter the allocation of a dimension type, the groupings do not take into account the dimension corresponding to the missing dimension. This configuration corresponds to a voluntary choice by the user to exclude certain operations from the scope of analysis.
Block number 1
Pyramid (field VPYM) |
It is a title field. |
Analytical dimension type (field VDIE) |
This field indicates the analytical dimension type concerned. This field is used to enter or select any dimension view set up in the database. |
Group (field VGRU) |
This field is used to indicate the code assigned to the group of analytical dimensions. |
field VDESTRA |
It is a title field. By default the short title, the long title or the column header of a data are recorded (on creation/update) in the connection language of the user.
A user who logs on with this language will view the short description, long description or column header in their connection language if a translation exists. Otherwise, these descriptions will be available in the folder language. The connection language must be defined as a default language for thefolder. |
Short description (field VSHOTRA) |
It is a title field. The short description replaces the standard description when display or print constraints require it. |
Parent group (field VPERE) |
This field reuses the code assigned to the parent group from which comes the group of analytical dimensions selected. |
field VPDES |
It is a title field of the parent group. |
Position
Definition level (field VLEV) |
This level MUST be less than 99, level 99 being reserved by convention to the analytical dimensions. |
Print row (field VPRNROW) |
The printing rank is used to sort the groups belonging to the same level. The printing rank makes it possible to sort out the dimension groups in reports in an order different from the default alphabetical order. |
Identification
Reports
By default, the following reports are associated with this function :
LISSEC : List of dimensions
This can be changed using a different setup.

This function is used to create a new pyramid based on an existing pyramid. This function is inhibited within the framework of operating budgets (dimensions coming from entities or envelopes) for the dimension groups. Functions / Auto generationThis function is used to automatically generate a pyramid for a given chart of accounts. For each level of the pyramid, the length of the groups of accounts will be specified.
