The location types contribute to the setup of the management of the stock locations.
They are used to:

  • codify the locations of the warehouse sites,
  • group the locations with similar characteristics according to certain criteria, (authorized quality statuses, dimensions, storage constraints, etc.),
  • give the rules for the assignment of the locations to the products, in the receipt to stock movements.

  • field FCYNAM

Site description.

The location types are used to codify the warehouse locations according to their storage characteristics: size, authorized statuses, technical constraints etc.
They are associated with the products by site, and are used in this way to geographically group the products with similar characteristics.
According to the stock transaction parameterization, the location type for the product is proposed by default and can be modified in the transaction entries.

  • field TYPDESAXX
  • Smaller number (field FIRLOC)
  • Larger number (field LASLOC)

Characteristics

  • Location category (field LOCCAT)

Specify the location type category.

  • Single-product (field MONITMFLG)

Location creation

  • Location format (field LOCNUMFMT)

Format of the location number
'A' = warehouse 'B' = zone 'C' = sequence 'D' = scale 'E' = level 'F' = rack 'G' = cavity
Each letter is optional, it can be repeated but it is necessary to respect an ascending order of weights.
For instance: AAABEFF = 3 characters for the warehouse 1 character for the area 1 character for the level and 2 characters for the rack.
It is used during the location creation that can be carried out in mass between two location ranges.
The "Stock at business partner" storage mode does not follow this codification of locations. The format is forced to 10 alphabetical characters in free entry. The tabs are created one by one.

  • From location (field STRLOCCRE)

Start and end locations creation ranges of the selected type.
The range entry must be carried out respecting the location type format. Every format subdivision (A/B/C/.../F) must be considered as a start/end range:

  • The end range must be >= to the end range among a specific subdivision
  • If the subdivision start range is numeric, the end range is numeric too. The same rule is applied if the start range is a letter.
For instance: FORMAT AABFF Start A1G01 End B2H03
    This example allows the creation of 72 locations: A1G01 A1G02 A1G03 A1H01 A1H02 A1H03 A2G01 A2G02 A2G03 A2H01 A2H02 A2H03 A3G01 etc. to B2H03
  • To location (field ENDLOCCRE)

Statistics

  • Expected updates (field UPDLOCEXT)
  • Actual updates (field UPDLOCCPL)

This button is used to open the location creation window.

After the validation of the location type, it is possible to create the associated locations respecting the format defined in the first tab. The creation is used in the generation of several locations within the range entered.

The association of a warehouse at the time of the locations creation depends on the location type.

  • 'Internal' and 'waiting to be put away' type locations : These locations have to be associated with a warehouse code, to be entered in the 'Warehouse' field. This warehouse code is mandatory if the storage site authorizes the warehouse management,
  • 'Customer and 'Sub-contractor' type locations : These locations are not attached to a warehouse code. They remain accessible whatever the warehouse code entered in the document.
