Telephone number control
This setup is used to control the consistency of the telephone numbers entered, compared to the setup carried out in the Country table.
This consistency control deals with the format, the exact length, as well as the correct setting of area and country codes when they are defined and when their control has been required.
This setup can take the following values:
Without
Only the standard control is carried out; it checks that the length of the number entered does not exceed the length set up via the format.
Modification mode only
The control is carried out when the telephone number has been modified.
Always
The control is systematically carried out when modifying a record, whether the number has been modified or not.
When the parameter is set with the Always value, the controls can be carried out on the linked entities and, in that event, become blocking controls. This is particularly the case if the Outlook synchronization, which generates contacts, is used.
Before setting the value to Always, it is thus necessary to check the telephone numbers in the database via the UTICNTTEL utility. This utility, which can be executed by the UTICNTTEL processing, is used to control the telephone numbers in the database that do not keep within the format and the controls defined by country.
