Automate Configurator
This function is used to apply multiple combinations of responses to a scenario with the goal of generating a technical data database.
The scenarios used can be the same as those used in interactive mode.
The entries made via the selection windows or the options / variants windows, as well as the control messages are ignored by the automatic functioning.
Prerequisite
Refer to documentation Implementation
Screen management
The entry of the configuration automation function is made up of two steps characterized by two tabs. The first displays the management characteristics of the scenario and the second is made up of the questions.
Header
In the entry screen header, it is necessary to enter the site- reference scenario pair. From there, it is possible to choose to start the automation in "simulation" mode.
Block number 1
Site (field FCY) |
Enter the site code. |
Scenario (field SCENUM) |
Enter or select the configuration scenario number (maximum 5 characters and description with up to 30 characters). |
Processing selection
Simulation (field SIMFLG) |

Tab Characteristics
This tab contains the scenario management characteristics. Only the BOM and routing alternatives can be modified.
Notes on the processing modes
There are three processing modes:
Test mode
This mode has as its aim, to carryout an initial combination of the elements in a simulation mode to check and control that the necessary responses have been given. At the end of execution, a log of any errors is displayed and a summary that is identical to the interactive mode validation screens can be printed.
Simulation mode
Click on after having ticked "Simulation" in the header. An additional message requests a validation of the simulation processing of all the response combinations. A processing progress indicator is displayed (number of combinations carried out and the response combination in process). A summary is displayed in the form of an end of processing log.
Note: this process can be long.
Update mode
Click on without having ticked "Simulation" in the header. An additional message requests a confirmation of the processing of all the response combinations. A processing progress indicator is displayed (number of combinations carried out and the response combination in process). A summary is displayed in the form of an end or processing log.
Note: this process can be long.
Parameters
Item creation (field ITMFLG) |
Routing creation (field ROUFLG) |
Component creation (field CMPFLG) |
Multisite creation (field FCYFLG) |
History search (field HISFLG) |
Costing mode (field CSTCOD) |
BOM
Alt reference typ (field ALTTYPREF) |
Reference (field BOMALTREF) |
Several BOMs can be defined for a single product reference. The various BOM codes can be used to manage different product structures according to their use context such as:
This field can be left empty (value = 0) to enable manual entry of the components. In this case, only the component is loaded. |
Creation (field BOMALT) |
Routing
Reference (field ROUALTREF) |
Multiple routings can be defined for a single product. Each routing code can be assigned specific management features. These include restriction of the routing to a specific site and to specific areas of functionality (for use in a manufacturing environment, for costing or for capacity planning). |
Creation (field ROUALT) |
Tab Parameter Definitions
This tab contains all the scenario questions. The entry of responses is carried out in three different ways:
Via the right click Response selection for the questions associated with the lists of values, the tick boxes and the shapes and patterns. A window opens in which it is possible to tick the desired response(s). Two buttons are available either to select all the responses or to do the opposite. A maximum of 20 responses is authorized for the questions with lists of values and a maximum of one response is authorized for the shapes and models.
By entering a start value, a number of values and a step (increment) for the numeric questions without value list. If value ranges are defined at the level of the question, each value must fall within the range.
By entering a Unique value for the alphanumeric questions without a value list.
Notes
The questions displayed in blue (in client-server mode) are accessible by right button. A calculation of the number of combinations is started after each entry. The default value will be loaded if no response is given to a question.
Block number 1
Reference date (field IPTDAT) |
Date that will serve as a reference to the configurator for the active BOM link choices. |
No. of combinations (field CFGNBR) |
field CFGNBRPRO |
Processing (field PRODSY) |
Question (field QSTNUM) |
First value (field STRVAL) |
Enter the first value that must be used for the scenario. |
No. of values (field NBRVAL) |
Enter the number of values that should be used successively by the scenario. |
Increment (field STEVAL) |
Enter the value of the increment that must be applied on the start value and the following values. All the possible values generated must be in conformitty with the symbol control. For instance: Start value = 15, Number of values = 3, Increment = 5. The scenario will be carried out with teh values 15, 20 and 25. |

Selection Response |
This action is only available for the questions displayed in blue, that is to say the questions linked to the value lists, and also the tick boxes or the shapes and patterns. It allows the opening of a window in which it is necessary to select the responses by manually ticking the lines or using the button . |
Symbol Detail |
This action is used to view the symbol characteristics. |
