Submit for scheduling

Use this function to select one or a range of work orders at a specific status to submit to Production Scheduler for scheduling. Scheduling is the process of sequencing the timing of work order operations according to the length of the operation, their productive and non-productive setting and operation times, and relationships in the work order, or for suggestions, in the routing.

Production Scheduler (FUNPSSCH) schedules the operations in the defined routing, and if specified, routing version, distributing the workload. It is particularly useful for adjusting unexpected production or supply events.

The sequence of operations will follow the defined numbering sequence.

You can specify a start date for a work order operation so that a work order is not scheduled to start before the materials are available, for example. If an operation's start date has been set, scheduling does not change the date. Scheduling will, however, reschedule other operations around the start date.

A work order that is being scheduled has been submitted to Production Scheduler for scheduling. The work order scheduling status remains at Scheduled and the work order at Being optimized status. You cannot modify the work order at these statuses.

You can submit a single work order to Production Scheduler directly from the Work order function (GESMFG), using the Submit for scheduling action.

A routing version, if defined, needs to be at Available to use status on the production start date, as defined in the Start date field in the Header section of the work order. If scheduling changes the production start date, this can cause an inconsistency with the selected version. Should this situation occur the work order Scheduling status will remain at Not scheduled status. You need to change the routing version or reschedule the work order before you can continue.

After the scheduling information is set correctly, you can use the Planning workbench (FUNDBENCH) function to reschedule, deschedule, or to mark specific operations to be scheduled.

If you need to modify an operation, you need to remove the work order from the scheduling. This deschedules it. You can use the Remove from scheduling function (PSOPTFREE) or the Remove from scheduling action directly from the Work order function (GESMFG) to do this.

Production Scheduler is only available for on-premises instances of (missing or bad snippet). If the POPS–Production Scheduler activity code is clear and the GFS–Finite scheduler activity code is selected, you are using the generic Finite scheduler interface to (missing or bad snippet) Web Scheduling or to a web scheduling solution developed by an ISV (independent software vendor) for either cloud or on-premises solutions. You need to use the Finite scheduler > Submit for scheduling function (FUNGFSMOPT) instead of this function.

Screen management

The Submit for scheduling function contains a single screen for you to enter your work order selection criteria.

Entry screen

Use the Selection criteria section to define the production site at which to submit work orders for scheduling and the date range. By default, the search is for all production at the defined site for 3 months from the current date but you can change this to search within a range of dates.

Use the Statuses section to filter the results by the work order status. You can include the origin of a suggestion if you include work order suggestions.

You can optionally select the work orders by applying a calculation formula.

Error messages

The only error messages are the generic ones.
