MPS reduce coverage stock
This parameter determines when the Master Production Schedule (MPS) should generate suggestions if coverage periods are used for products managed in stock.
For every transaction in a coverage period, as expressed in weeks, the MPS compares the resulting stock level and the reorder lead time with actual requirements (orders). If the stock level on the date of the planning run (MPS processing (FUNMPS), Reference date field) plus the reorder lead time is too low, the MPS can generate a suggestion. The date for the generated suggestion is the date of the planning run.
No: This is the default value. The MPS process analyzes the requirements inside the coverage period and generates a suggestion to cover demand.
Yes: The MPS process analyzes the requirements inside 1 coverage period and only generates a suggestion at the start of that coverage period. It ignores changes to demand until the start of the next coverage period.
Example
Product A
Coverage: 5 weeks
Safety stock: 0
Start stock: 0
Production lead time: 1 week
Requirements expressed: Per week for 10 weeks
MPS results with MPSRECOVST = No (default)
Coverage is used for products managed in stock. When the MPS process is run with coverage, this means that the requirements inside the coverage period are analyzed in order to issue a global suggestion. Coverage can slide. The suggestion is placed at the start of the coverage period, that is, at the earliest 1 coverage period before the requirement date.

MPS results with MPSRECOVST = Yes
The requirements inside the coverage period are analyzed in order to issue a global suggestion. The suggestion is placed at the start of each coverage period, that is, at the start of 1 coverage period before the requirement date.

Comments
The type of suggestions to be generated (work order, purchase order, intersite transfer, or subcontract order) are defined in the MPS Requirements parameters (Setup > Stock > Requirements parameters (GESPCB)).
The facility to move an existing order forward is also defined in the MPS Requirements parameters (Forward lead time field) for each type of suggestion.
