This parameter determines if Material Requirements Planning (MRP) should generate suggestions if the planning run establishes that actual requirements will result in stock shortages. 

For every transaction, MRP compares the resulting stock level and the reorder lead time with actual requirements (orders). If the stock level on the date of the planning run (MRP processing (FUNMRPG), field Reference date) plus the reorder lead time is too low MRP can generate a suggestion. The suggestion quantity will increase the stock level to the specified safety level. The date for the generated suggestion will be the date of the planning run.

'Yes' - The MRP process must generate a suggestion to cover the safety stock.

'No' - The MRP process must not generate suggestions if the planning run establishes that an existing order covers safety stock for the date of the run plus the reorder lead time.

Comments

The type of suggestions to be generated (work order, purchase order, intersite transfer or subcontract order) are defined in the MRP Requirements parameters (Setup > Stock > Requirements parameters (GESPCB)).

The facility to move an existing order forward is also defined in the MRP Requirements parameters (field Forward lead time) for each type of suggestion.
