Safety stock coverage
This parameter determines if the Master Production Schedule (MPS) should generate suggestions if the planning run establishes that actual requirements will result in stock shortages.
For every transaction, the MPS compares the resulting stock level and the reorder lead time with actual requirements (orders). If the stock level on the date of the planning run (MPS processing (FUNMPS), Reference date field) plus the reorder lead time is too low, the MPS can generate a suggestion. The suggestion quantity increases the stock level to the specified safety level. The date for the generated suggestion is the date of the planning run.
Yes: The MPS process generates a suggestion to cover the safety stock.
No: The MPS process does not generate suggestions if the planning run establishes that an existing order covers safety stock for the date of the run plus the reorder lead time.

Comments
The type of suggestions to be generated (work order, purchase order, intersite transfer, or subcontract order) are defined in the MPS Requirements parameters (Setup > Stock > Requirements parameters (GESPCB)).
The facility to move an existing order forward is also defined in the MPS Requirements parameters (Forward lead time field) for each type of suggestion.
