All Project management tasks have planned start and planned end dates. Project management controls these dates across the various task levels to ensure consistency. As individual task dates can be adjusted both manually and automatically, you use this parameter to define when parent level task date fields should be adjusted to reflect the earliest start date and the latest end date of child level tasks when the start or end date of an operational task, or an employee assignment is adjusted.

On demand update: This is the default value for this parameter. Adjust task start and end dates to reflect the earliest start date and the latest end date of lower level tasks when Adjust task dates is selected from the Actions menu for an individual task, or the Adjust all dates action is selected from the Action panel in the Task planning screen.

Automatic update: Automatically adjust task start and end dates to reflect the earliest start date and the latest end date of lower level tasks.
